So many novice writers feel that if they have the physical description they have the character. But actually, it works the other way around - the character dictates the physcial description. So the haunted carpenter has gnarled fingers covered with scars, unusually muscular wrists and can open a screw-top jar that Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't tackle. Also he'd have an eye for a chair that most people wouldn't share (forgive the rhyme). But these came from the character's life, not from exteriors. Holly, I think your course would be great.
